A world-leading precision machining company based in northeastern Italy, with sales of about 50 million euros, faced significant challenges with its information system organized on several databases with potential problems of data security, slow data processing and sharing between different areas.
The customer had both CNC machines and new machine tools with Industry 4.0 interfaces, and this added to the need to integrate them.
Widecons intervened by equipping the machines with a standard parameterized integrated gateway for real-time production data collection, interfacing all machines via panel PCs and migrating the databases to a single virtual environment. In addition, the integration of Internet connectivity throughout the facility has made it easy to profile different levels of access.
Eight months later, the company has experienced a drastic reduction in downtime (from 2.2 percent average to 0.01 percent average), increased productivity (+18 percent average hourly turnover), more on-time deliveries (from 92.8 percent to 96.3 percent), and increased machine operator satisfaction.
